I stayed here for my sister's wedding and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Usually when I hear Hampton Inn, I think pretty generic hotel accomodations are headed my way. But being that this particular hotel is located in the heart of Fernandina Beach, FL [where the hotel choices are limited... this was by far the best choice] and the quality of the place itself, I would say this Hampton Inn is by far one of the nicest ones I have ever seen. We somehow ended up with a major suite, which was fantastic. We had a huge living room, dining room, kitchen and a separate bedroom with a huge king sized bed, fireplace, and huge bathroom. Needless to say, I was impressed! If you are looking for a place to stay in FB, I highly recommend this place. It has a lot of character for a large hotel and its location cannot be beat.

Great hotel. Great breakfast. Tiny parking spaces

The best feature of this hotel was the location - it is smack dab in the middle of the most wonderful historic district you can imagine! Everything from restaurants to shopping is just a short stroll away. Overall, a wonderful hotel!

This is the best Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at. Nice place, great rooms, and they very accommodating. It is also and well located in the center of the historic district. I would stay here again and recommend it to any one coming to Amelia Island.

Marnie the biz partner and I ducked in to attend the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers Conference at this property at the invite of my of clients, Broward Crime Stoppers. The place rocked, here's why: * On the water * Cool decor * Pool overlooks the water from the 2nd floor * Located in quaint and picturesque downtown * Inexpensive * Awesome breakfast buffet included * Clean and new * Awesome shopping, and dining, and entertainment within walking distance. I've stayed in a lot of Hampton Inns. More than most folks. This is one of the best I've ever stayed in. Check it, Cabeza OUT!

Stayed here Valentine's weekend - perfect location. If you want to stay in the historic district near all the restaurants and shopping this is the place for you. Old hotel restored to a very comfortable modern hotel. We had the king room with Jacuzzi tub and fireplace. The walls are a little thin, but the ambiance and complementary breakfast more than make up for a it. A definite winner.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights on a recent trip to Amelia Island. Overall, I thought it was a great choice. Pros: --Great location within walking distance of everything in the historic downtown. --Large and quiet rooms. Because the living room was the room that entered onto the hall, and the bedroom had it's own door, there was no noise from doors slamming or people walking in the hall. My bedroom didn't share walls with other rooms, so I didn't hear anything that way either. --Free breakfast (albeit not the greatest food). Cons (very minor): --Very small fitness room (one treadmill, one bike, one elliptical). --Parking can be tight, but they have an overflow lot across the street next to Le Clos, which seemed adequate when I was there. --As signs in the elevator say, the hotel borders train tracks, and trains do go by at night sometimes. I didn't hear them the first night, but I did the second. Not a big deal. I went back to sleep immediately. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a friend's wedding and we want to come back. Is this the "nicest"/fanciest place to stay in the area, but in my mind it is the best place to stay. You have great views of the water while still being in the heart of Fernandina Beach. You can walk to the local dining and shopping options (I highly recommend you do). The lobby and hotel as a whole have great character. The parking is free and there is plenty of it. If they "run out" there is an overflow lot right across the street. The breakfast was standard Hampton Inn breakfast, but it gets the job done. They were more than helpful when we were making out reservation and throughout the entire stay. The room was very nice. We were in a suite and it was nice. There was a small kitchen area with plates, glasses, ect. The couch pulls out to a bed and there is a gas fireplace that is nice to turn on for a cool north Florida night. There is a door that separates the living area from the bedroom which is always nice. The rooms can also be a different temperature, which is a nice touch. We will stay here again and would recommend it to anyone coming to the area. Everything throughout the hotel was very clean.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Gorgeous. Great service, though the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed. The rooms are decently spacious, though you are paying for the location. Breakfast was fantastic. HBO in HD which is a plus. My cons: that bed. Whew. Uncomfortable as can be. Parking can be called confusing, especially following GPS, though the cramped parking is understandable. Worth a stay, just bring your own pillows.

We've stayed here several times now and wouldn't consider changing to another hotel. The location is just great. You can walk to any number of restaurants and stroll the streets in the evening. The staff is simply wonderful. Obviously we love this place.

This was a great hotel to stay at down in Historic Fernandina. There was plenty of parking and once we arrived we walked to everything within the historic district. The hotel was close to the water, shopping saloons, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner choices of all price ranges. The hotel staff was friendly. The room was wonderful! Great bed, very comfortable (one of the main reasons we choose Hampton Inns). The room was very clean, and roomy. We had a jacuzzi suite with a fireplace and the room was perfectly set up to enjoy everything it had to offer. We arrived to chilled champagne, two champagne glasses to keep, chocolate covered popcorn from Peterbrook, towel swans and a heart of rose petals on the bed.... all part of the sweet escapes package (which was a great buy at only an additional $20). Can't comment on breakfast as we didn't partake.

Nice location - within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The suite we stayed in was very roomy and comfortable. There were 2 queen beds in the bedroom and a separate living room with a sleeper sofa. A full size refrigerator and microwave were a big plus! Housekeeping very friendly and attentive. Hot breakfast was included, and it's the average complimentary breakfast you expect. The pool is located on the 2nd floor next to the breakfast room. The fitness center is located on the 1st floor and is very clean. We enjoyed our stay here!

If you want to spend the weekend walking around downtown Fernandina Beach and not ever have to drive anywhere this is the perfect place. First of all, it's a great deal. The rooms are large and clean. You are within walking distance of great restaurants, bars, and shops. If you are expecting a 5-star experience go to the Ritz Carlton and pay for it. This is a nice hotel if you are looking for an inexpensive, weekend getaway.

The only thing that I will remember about this hotel is that I looked under the bed for a missing bracelet and found a previous guest's stash of adult toys. It was quite an impressive array. They were so close to the edge of the bed that they should have been noticeable to a person changing the sheets ... which gives rise to some unpleasant questions about the cleanliness of the sheets. Since I booked through Orbitz, the manager informed me that Hampton Inn would have to process a refund check rather than refunding my credit card. I asked to be CC'd on all communication about my refund. This was a month ago. I'm still waiting for my check, or for any correspondence about the refund.

Loved this hotel. The lobby is incredible and the room I booked into was beautiful, with a whirlpool tub in the main living area. The location is great for Fernandina Beach, and there (appeared to be) plenty of parking. Though I was there in the off season and was the youngest person staying in the hotel by about 20 years. Breakfast, etc. are pretty standard for a Hampton inn. I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again, hopefully during a nicer time of the year.

I had a had time deciding between a 3 and a 4 for our stay...again, shameless ping toward yelp to get 1/2 stars --- or if you have them, find someone smarter than me to tell me how to do it ;o) I ended up opting for the 4, but would probably call it is 3.5. Here is the good and not as good. GOOD-- Location is awesome. Right in heart of old town historic district so walk to bars, shops, food, marina, etc. Lobby and atrium were very nice. Mile and 1/2 to beach --- so easy drive or walk if thats your deal. We stayed on ocean in condo 3 days and here 3 more -- so good mix. Had one bedroom suite and kicthenette -- so that ruled. NOT AS GOOD-- Parking is limited -- one night wanted to head to park for kids to play, and lot was basically at capacity -- so may not get a spot in lot. Then have to leave car somewhere else which is not as cool. Decor -- is a bit tired and looks dated in room. Carpet and all else showed age and not too appealing. Again we had 2 little kids so space is king and decor doesn't matter -- but the decor of rooms on the place is 3 at tops --although outside and lobby are nicer Again we got a fantastic rate making it all worth it and I would stay again in a heart beat. if you get a good deal, it is nice, safe, and spacious...go for it. Really cant beat the walkable downtown feel.

Nice clean and up to date rooms. Great location downtown with nice views of the water and a quick walk to many local eateries and shops. Free wifi, good breakfast and government rates.

Great stay and close to everything. Great character fitting in with surroundings. Friendly and helpful staff. Normal quality breakfast. It does change daily on the main items. Walking distance of shops and food. The island card is great as well will give discounts at different places on the island.

Definitely one of the nicest Hampton Inns I've ever seen! Within this particular "tier" of Hilton brands, this is a 5 star location. The staff at the desk is amazing, the location is fantastic, and the exterior of the building meshes nicely with the historic surroundings. Inside the entrance, it's truly beautiful with the wooden spiral staircase as the room's main focus, along with the wood floors and the giant clock embedded in the ceiling [see photo]. The area where breakfast is served is an attractive, naturally lit room [photo] on the second floor adjacent to the rooftop pool and deck [photo] which overlooks the water. The suite opens up into the kitchen and living area, which includes plenty of seating and a TV [photo]. A door separates this area from the bedroom and bathroom [photo]. Everything was clean and comfortable. Honestly, when I return I doubt I'll even consider another hotel. This is a shining example of the brand.

The hotel was in a great location and walking distance from restaurants and stores. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and there was a nice view. The rates were reasonable and we will likely return.

Stayed here last weekend. Arrived at reception at 9pm - tired and wet after a long day in the rain on the Harley. No one at reception when we arrived, waited five minutes and still no one. Started to shout "hello" and still no one turned up. Eventually I called the hotel on my cell phone while standing at the reception and after about three more minutes the receptionist showed up and answered the phone ( guess what honey, it's me !) The rest of our group showed about 30mins later - and the same thing - no receptionist for about 10 minutes or so. We had booked 9 rooms and said that we would be arriving late. Hotel was nice - but the check in process sucked!

Good hotel Nice, big suite with refridge, microwave and complimentary popcorn! Clean room with no smoke smell!!!! Free Breakfast was better than average with eggs, b elgian waffles, biscuits and gravy, etc. Very close to harbor and Center Street. Parking insufficient. Will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I live in Jacksonville, and like to visit Fernandina for a little get away now and then. We usually stay at Bed and Breakfasts, but were feeling the need for more privacy than is usually allowed at a Bed and Breakfast. This is a very nice place. Two issues, however, the room was very bright at night and there isn't sufficient parking at the hotel. The window coverings don't quite do the job and bright lights outside the window made it difficult to sleep. We weren't able to park in the hotel lot, but there is public parking next to the hotel. I suggest that the resevation desk communicates this upon arrival. We didn't know and ended up driving through the parking lot several times until we noticed the public lot. We attempted to go for the free breakfast this morning, but as we expected, it was way to crowded to even get near the breakfast bar. We plan on staying again. It's right in the heart of Fernandina and you can walk anywhere. The housekeeping staff were very friendly. Every housekeeper we passed greeted us by saying, "Good Morning or "Have a Safe Trip." The room was very nice, with a jacuzzi and electric fireplace. The place has a very cozy feel for a chain hotel.

Location: Excellent. Smack dab in the middle of downtown within seconds of places to eat and shop. Free Breakfast: Great. We were only there for a night but the staff was friendly enough.

Great hotel! Friendly staff, clean rooms, awesome breakfast buffet. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island.
